James Sowar is glad the "unsettling six months" is over, and the former Arthur Andersen partner is now settling in as a partner at Deloitte & Touche.

"They've been incredibly welcoming," Sowar said of his new partners.

A University of Notre Dame graduate, Sowar joined Andersen's Chicago office in 1985 and transferred to Cincinnati three years later. His specialty is health care tax issues.

Sowar also has taken his interest in health care to the volunteer level as a board of trustees member for Bayley Place, a long-term care facility operated by the Sisters of Charity.

"Serving the elderly truly is a mission," he said of the care he sees given at Bayley Place

Sowar also is a director for the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative and has volunteered for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He and his wife, Mary Carol, also coach sports at Cardinal Pacelli School, where the Anderson Township couple's children Jay, 13, Molly, 9, and Christine, 8, are students.
