Jamal Muashsher's day job is only the beginning of his activities. The Procter home care business analyst also serves as the president of the region's largest young professional volunteer group-which he helped start.
A chemical engineer by training, Muashsher said making the move to a marketing job was his toughest career decision. But what he likes best about what he does are "the people I get to meet and work with."
He meets plenty. Give Back Cincinnati, the service volunteer organization he helped start in 2000, now has more than 1,000 members. They represent more than 200 local companies and were responsible for nearly 5,000 volunteer hours in 2002.
The group is designed to help members build connections to Cincinnati, something that could also help employers retain workers. Muashsher said business and political leaders can get this demographic more involved by listening.
"Simply be more inviting about incorporating young professional's ideas and thoughts into the work that they do," he said.
