AUCKLAND, March 15 AAP - Creepy and complicated it might be, but New Zealanders just can't seem to get enough of this murderous tale.
In 1995, David Bain was found guilty of killing his brother, two sisters and his parents in the family's Dunedin home, in the country's deep south, the previous year.
At the time the story dominated headlines more than any other domestic murder before it.
The family's bizarre ramshackle house, rumours of incest between the father and his daughters, and 22-year-old David's thin-faced, gawky looks and bad hand-knitted jumpers all added fuel to the public's fascination.
