Diversifying the workforce and helping to achieve greater employee work/life balance are two principal goals of hiring managers and human resource professionals right now, according to CareerBuilder. corn's 2007 Job Forecast. Other top concerns expressed by the participants in the survey include rehiring retirees, overseas recruiting, promotions, and improved training.

These goals are not surprising, given the fact that 40% of employers reported they currently have job openings for which they can't find qualified candidates, said Matt Ferguson, CEO of CareerBuilder.com. More competitive recruitment and retention efforts are expected in the current environment, he added.

About half (51%) of the surveyed employers reported that salaries for full-time and permanent employees have increased over the last three months; most (81%) will increase salaries for existing employees mis year; and nearly half (49%) will offer new hires higher salaries than were offered to their new hires in the past, the survey reported.
