Jay Shatz has barely stopped for breath since leaving his reporting job at WCPOTV to start his own television production company.

He produces "Around the House" for his old station, a show that starts its fifth season in September as the No. 1 show during its Sunday morning time slot.

He also co-produces with Scripps Productions a one-hour weekly show on the DIY cable channel called "Ask DIY."

And he is lead producer in developing syndicated programming for DIY, a 30-minute weekly do-it-yourself program customized for 24 markets across the country, including Scripps' nine stations. That show - which, with its many markets, will have 576 episodes - will premier in September.

He has four full-time employees and eight free-lance producers and editors. Somehow, he finds time to be a United Way Ambassador with United Way's speakers' program.
