Measurement of the optical constants of gamma irradiated optical materials
by Yang, Chaodung Thomas, M.S., University of Massachusetts Lowell, 1991, 119 pages; AAT 1344349

Abstract (Summary)

Optical materials and components may change their optical properties or optical performance by exposure to high energy radiation environments such as the space environment. This project measured optical materials and components before and after 10$\sp6$ rads $\gamma$-ray radiation. The transmittance and optical constants (complex index of refraction) of each sample have been measured and calculated from 200 nm to 2000 nm, wherever possible. The method applied in this project for bulk materials is the RT method (reflectance and transmittance) and for single layer thin films is the envelope method.
