Abstract

Dans les sociétés modernes, le mode sur lequel s'effectue la coopération sociale est en profonde transformation. Le débat entre libéraux, communautariens et libertariens qui gravite autour du lien social semble proposer de nouvelles bases à la solidarité sociale, ce qui implique aussi une façon différente d'imaginer les fondements de la société. Notre mémoire rappelle, dans un premier temps, l'opposition conceptualisée par les premiers sociologues du rapport entre communauté et société. Il vise, dans un deuxième temps, à comprendre la configuration du lien social suggérée par la pensée de trois auteurs: John Rawls, Charles Taylor et Robert Nozick. Nous analysons leur discours à partir des trois grands thèmes suivants: communauté, État et justice. Ceux-ci seront nos outils d'analyse du lien social. Pour l'essentiel, ce mémoire montre que les modes d'agencement ainsi que l'importance relative de chacun de ces thèmes propres aux différents courants de pensée examinés témoignent de trois grandes conceptions du lien social.

In modern societies, the mode in which social cooperation takes place is undergoing profound transformation. The debate between liberals, communitarians and libertarians which gravitates around the social bond seems to propose new bases for social solidarity, which also implies a different way of imagining the foundations of society. Our dissertation recalls, initially, the opposition conceptualized by the first sociologists of the relationship between community and society. It aims, secondly, to understand the configuration of the social bond suggested by the thought of three authors: John Rawls, Charles Taylor and Robert Nozick. We analyze their discourse based on the following three major themes: community, state and justice. These will be our social link analysis tools. Essentially, this thesis shows that the modes of arrangement as well as the relative importance of each of these themes specific to the different currents of thought examined testify to three major conceptions of the social bond.
