Abstract

La tache d'evaluation n'est pas une mince tache. Pour aider l'eleve dans son apprentissage, il faut que l'evaluation aille au-dela des reponses qu'il peut fournir pour mettre a jour les processus de pensee qui l'ont amene a fournir de telles reponses. Les outils de depistage et de diagnostic qui existent pour y parvenir sont plutot rares et souvent difficiles a utiliser avec de grands groupes. Ces outils s'averent de plus exigeants en termes de temps et d'efforts de la part des mai tres. D'ou notre interet pour l'exploration d'un domaine qui commence tout juste a se developper, celui du systeme expert ou nous avons construit un outil efficace pour supporter les mai tres soucieux de mieux depister les erreurs de leurs eleves et d'en trouver certaines des causes. Cet outil, qui demeure un prototype, porte sur l'operation de soustraction et touche plus particulierement le depistage et le diagnostic des erreurs commises par les eleves dans leur recours a l'algorithme de soustraction.

Le travail a permis de mettre en lumiere plusieurs des apports possibles des systemes experts dans l'evaluation des eleves. Et le systeme mis au point apparai t comme un point de depart interessant pour l'elaboration de systemes plus complets pouvant servir a l'evaluation de la comprehension de notions mathematiques.

This tool, which remains a prototype, focuses on the subtraction operation and more particularly concerns the detection and diagnosis of errors made by students in their use of the subtraction algorithm.

The work highlighted several of the possible contributions of expert systems in student evaluation. And the system developed appears to be an interesting starting point for the development of more complete systems that can be used to evaluate the understanding of mathematical concepts.
