Tori's RAINN on Radio

In an effort to call attention to the non-profit organization she co-founded, RAINN (the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network), Tori Amos requested that 2,000 radio stations in the country play her poignant ballad "Silent All These Years," and run a public service announcement simultaneously at noon on May 16th. RAINN operates America's only national hotline for sexual assault victims.

Participants in this nationwide call to action included MTV (airing a special news brief prior to the event and a 30-minute special report afterwards), VH1, Lifetime and The Box.

Amos' PSA and song were made available together on a promotional CD and shipped to more than 1,800 commercial and college radio stations across the country.

Every two minutes someone is sexually assaulted in the U.S. Only 32% of these attacks are ever reported to the police. The aim of RAINN, which was established in 1994, is to change that reality.
