The education of cartoonist Lat
MALAYSIA'S much-loved cartoonist Datuk Mohd Nor Khalid, 55, more popularly known as Lat, has been entertaining Malaysians and foreigners alike for decades.
A New Straits Times cartoonist since 1974, his acute observations of ordinary Malaysians and their idiosyncrasies, and Malaysian life in general, have appealed to people of all walks of life, race or creed.
The accidental ambassador for Malaysia has had his creations translated from English into Malay, Japanese, French and Portuguese, and even adorning the wall of a laundromat in Los Angeles, California.
Kampung Boy, Town Boy, Lots of Lat and Lat's Lot are among the best-sellers of this artist, who as a 12-year-old, had his first creation published - it was the Malay language Tiga Sekawan.
