Recent Searches

Recent Searches lists searches (up to twenty-five) that you've run during your current session. Your previous searches are listed starting with the most recent.

The list also contains the number of documents found for each search, helping you determine how broad or focused the results of the search were.

You can use Recent Searches to review searches you've already run, to run searches again, to add previous searches to a current search.

Your Recent Searches list is not saved after you leave ProQuest. If you want to save your searches, you must download or print your Research Summary.

For many databases, you can also set up Alerts on searches you have run, so you are notified by email when new information becomes available.

Run a search you ran earlier

As you're conducting research, you may find that you'd like to see the results of a search you ran earlier.

  1. Click n Recent Searches just below the tabs.
  2. In the pop-up Recent Searches window, scan your list to find the search you want to review and click n results (where n represents the number of documents that were found in the last search).
  3. ProQuest runs your search again, letting you review the complete results.

Use a previous search to build a new search

  1. Type new search words in the search field of Basic or Advanced Search
  2. Run the search by clicking Search.
  3. Click n Recent Searches.
  4. In the pop-up Recent Searches window, scan your Recent Searches list for the search you want to add, and click Add to Search.
  5. ProQuest combines your previous search with the new one using AND.

Setting up Alerts on Recent Searches

You can set up an Alert for a search you have recently run. Follow these steps:

  1. Locate the desired search, and click the Set up Alert link next to the search.
You will see the Set up Your Search Alert page.
  2. Complete the required information and click Save
  3. You will see a confirmation page, summarizing your information. If the information is correct, click Done. Otherwise, you can click Delete this Alert to delete the alert.
