Document View

Once you've found documents you want to use, you have several options for working with them. You can review abstracts and citations of documents, or, in many cases, read the full text online. You can also print and email the documents that interest you.

View a Document in a Different Format

To see the document you're currently reading in a different format, choose the format you want from the document format list on the right side of the screen.

Print a Document

You'll find the Print link above the title of your document, along with other options for handling the document you're reading.

To print the document you're currently reading, click Print. The document view changes to one optimized for printing, and the print dialog box opens.

Each document format prints differently. For example, when you print the Text+Graphics format, the graphics print as thumbnails. If you want to print the graphics full size, you may want to use the PDF format (if available).

If you want to print citations or summaries for more than one document, you can print from the Marked List page.

Email a Document

You'll find the Email link above the title of your document, along with other options for handling the document you're reading.

You can email the document to yourself or to someone working on a project with you or who shares the same interests.

To email a document:

  1. Click Email. You see the Email Document form.
  2. Enter the email address to which you'd like to send the document, a subject header for the email, and any comments you'd like to include in the body of your email.
  3. Select the desired citation style and select the document format (the formats available will vary, depending on the document(s) selected).
  4. Select the email settings to use. Not all email programs will support the HTML option. If you are not sure what application the recipient will be using, you should select Plain text.
  5. Click Send Email. You see a note confirming that your email has been sent.

You cannot email Page Map format.

If you want to email more than one document to the same address, you can email multiple documents from the My Research page.

Mark a Document

The Marked List is useful for keeping track of details from your searches during your ProQuest session. It lets you collect documents of interest into a list that you can later review, print, email, or export as a bibliography.

To add a document to your Marked List, check the Mark Document checkbox. ProQuest automatically adds the document to your Marked List.

Copy Link to a Document

You'll find Copy Link above the title of your document, along with other options for handling the document you’re reading.

When you click Copy Link, it will open a window with a permanent link to the document. You can use this URL to return to the document in the future.

Cite a Document

You'll find Cite this above the title of your document, along with other options for handling the document you’re reading.

When you click Cite this, it will open a window with a formatted citation you can include in a bibliography. Use the dropdown menu to select the desired citation format (APA, MLA, etc.).

Find Documents by the Same Author

Below the title of the document you will see information about the document, including the author's name, subjects, companies, people, and other keywords or index terms. (The information listed depends on the database you are searching as well as the current document.) Much of this information will appear as links. Click on a link and ProQuest will run a new search using that information.

For example, if you're reading a document by a favorite writer, click on the author's name to find other documents written by that author.

View References

Your document may include links to References. References help you find other documents relevant to your research.

Click the References link to view a list of sources from the document’s bibliography.

Click the Cited by link to view a list of documents which included this as one of their sources.

Find Similar Documents

If your document contains index terms or keywords, you can search for similar documents using the Find more documents like this section. Select the terms you wish to include in your search, then click Search. Additional terms may be included under More options.

Author Profile

The ABI/INFORM Global database provides access to author and institution profiles for documents from scholarly journals. To view an author profile, click the Author Profile icon next to a scholarly author's name.

If an exact match can not be made for the author, you will be taken to the possible matches page, which lists the possible matches in alphabetical order. To view an author profile, click the desired name.
